Why This Page Exists#

Shipping and logistics fraud is a growing problem. Scammers may impersonate freight forwarders, create fake websites mimicking legitimate companies, or use phishing emails to steal money or cargo. Colivelo Shipping is committed to protecting our Shippers and the public from fraud. This page provides guidance on how to identify fraudulent activity and verify that you are dealing with the genuine Colivelo Shipping.

How to Verify Colivelo Shipping#

Before sending payment or cargo, verify that you are dealing with the genuine Colivelo Shipping by checking the following:

  • Domain name: Our only official website is coliveloshipping.com. We do not operate from any other domain. If you receive an email or quote from a different domain claiming to be Colivelo, it is fraudulent.
  • Email addresses: All Colivelo email addresses end in @coliveloshipping.com. We do not use free email services (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) for business communications.
  • Phone number: Our main phone number is +1 463-282-7139. If you receive a call from a different number claiming to be Colivelo, call our official number to verify.
  • FMC OTI License: Our FMC-OTI license number is 026421F. You can verify this on the FMC website or see our Legal Notice page.
  • Registered office: 47510 Private Rd 19, Elizabeth, CO 80107, USA. See our Legal Notice for full details.

Common Shipping Fraud Schemes#

3.1 Fake Freight Forwarder

Scammers create a website and email addresses that closely resemble a legitimate freight forwarder. They offer suspiciously low rates, request payment by wire transfer or cryptocurrency, and disappear after receiving payment. Verify the company's FMC license number and domain name before booking.

3.2 Phishing Emails

Fraudulent emails may appear to come from Colivelo but contain links to fake login pages or request sensitive information (passwords, credit card numbers, BOL copies). Colivelo will never ask for your password or full credit card number by email. Do not click links or open attachments in suspicious emails — contact us directly using the phone number or email on our website.

3.3 Cargo Theft via Fake Pickup

Scammers may impersonate a carrier or driver and arrive to pick up cargo using fraudulent documentation. Always verify the driver's identity and carrier MC number against your booking confirmation. Colivelo will provide you with the carrier name and MC number when a booking is confirmed.

3.4 Invoice Manipulation

Fraudsters may intercept or spoof email communications and send modified invoices with different bank account details. Always verify payment instructions by calling Colivelo at our official phone number before making any payment. Colivelo will not change bank account details via email alone.

4

Red Flags#

Be suspicious of any of the following:

  • Rates that are significantly lower than market rates.
  • Requests for payment by wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or prepaid gift cards.
  • Emails from domains that are not @coliveloshipping.com.
  • Requests for sensitive information (passwords, full credit card numbers, Social Security numbers) by email or phone.
  • Urgency or pressure to pay or release cargo quickly, without time to verify.
  • Spelling or grammar errors in official-looking documents.
  • Missing or incorrect FMC license number.
  • Bank account details that differ from those previously provided.
5

How to Report Fraud#

If you suspect fraudulent activity involving Colivelo Shipping, or if you have been contacted by someone claiming to represent Colivelo and you are unsure of their authenticity, report it immediately:

Provide as much detail as possible: the email address, phone number, website, and any documents you received. If you have already made a payment, contact your bank immediately to attempt to recall or stop the transfer.

6

What Colivelo Will Never Do#

  • Ask for your password, full credit card number, or Social Security number by email or phone.
  • Request payment by cryptocurrency, prepaid gift cards, or personal wire transfer.
  • Change bank account or payment details via email alone — we always require verbal verification.
  • Pressure you to pay or release cargo without giving you time to verify.
  • Send emails from a domain other than @coliveloshipping.com.
  • Refuse to provide our FMC OTI license number or carrier MC number upon request.
